using interactive videos in your class

Using interactive videos to teach a topic is a good idea. This video is an example of using eye-catching images, specially cartoons which students can identify very easily and which can be meaningful for them. This is a good way to chill out students when facing a task, because they are familiar with this cartoons and they make them laugh. Depending on the age of your students, you can use already known pictures. However, these kind of programs such as south park or even the Simpsons, are very interesting for several kids, teenagers and adults. Nevertheless, it is necessary to check the content, vocabulary and the relationship the video has with the topic you are teaching. Moreover, if you want to choose these images to teach your own class, you can always apply them through a PPT presentation and make them interactive materials for your lesson. What can you tell me about which videos have you played to teach English to your students? Did you use these kind of cartoons to teach a topic?

hi laura!
i liked the video and your post about the idea of using it in our classroom. I think that using videos is a really cool tool but sometimes we tend to use it in a wrong way, for instance, we show a movie and we don't give any task, it does not have any linguistic background, i think that every extra activity, as videos, could really work if you have a task to follow o something already prepared in order to improve our children learning without getting bored, good job honey! congrats!

videos is an excellent tool to apply with children, they get focused on flashy colors and interesting topics soI think they love it, some times I use videos with my students if we have access to internet we see them that way, the important part is that teachers must be aware of the content of the video and how to focus students' attention on an specific topic if posible.

I myself found interactive videos very interesting for an EFL lesson... I just started to use them in my English lessons and I am pretty sure that children, teenagers or even adults will enjoy them

Videos are useful because they stimulate more than one sense. If you work with children and teenagers it is important to monitor the content of the video because the idea is not to watch any video but a meaningful one and a video related to the topic we want to teach or reinforce; also, the level of the video in terms of difficulty must be apropriate.
